I was very excited to try this SuperBright Exfoliating Skin Brightener, as it promised salon results. Looking at the ingredients list and the percentage of acid, it certainly appears to be a salon strength formulation! Following the advice of the instructions, I planned to apply it for 1 minute as I have sensitive skin. However, I had to wash it off after 15 seconds because it gave me any itchy and burning sensation on my facial skin. This was disappointing as I had refrained from using any other type of exfoliator in the days prior to prevent any sensitivity issues. However, I think unfortunately it is just too strong of a product for sensitive skin. I will say that where applied, my skin looks glowier and more refreshed even a few hours of application. I can see how this would be an amazing product for those whose skin can tolerate it, and it is at a great price point for salon results.

I used this product for two weeks, tested in different climatic conditions ranging from cold and dry to hot and humid. The cream is white, and the promise of developing a ‘sun kissed colour’ with use was not immediately obvious. However, tint was evident on my hands after use, and the advice to let the moisturizer dry before getting dressed and to wash hands after application was good information. It did not stain my clothing or leave oily marks or any residue. I tested the moisturizer on body surfaces which were exposed to the elements, including my face, as well as areas not exposed to light. The moisturizer was lightly perfumed and pleasant to apply. It soaked quickly into my skin and was not greasy. The best effect was on itchy dry skin (from cold climate) and this was relieved immediately and relief lasted between applications.

I was super excited to try the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Scalp Brush, as I have a dry scalp and the idea of a dry massage brush for the scalp sounded amazing. The brush is surprisingly light weight, is a nice compact size which doesn’t take up too much space in the bathroom cupboard. The brush itself feels amazing on the scalp - it truly does feel like a head massage! I’ve only been using it for a few weeks now, so I can’t comment on long-term benefit for the scalp, but it does feel like it is stimulating blood flow to my scalp which must be good for my scalp and hair growth long term. The only downside is that because it’s a scalp brush, it doesn’t really detangle my long hair, which means I have to use two brushes. I had hoped that at the price point it would also detangle.

During winter I have very dry hands that frequently crack and feel tight, so I was excited to try this Tough Hands hand cream as it claimed repair dry and cracked hands. I have been using it at night for a week now and unfortunately I haven’t seen visible improvement in the condition of my hands. I will continue to use it to see if I get benefits over the course of a month. The cream itself is of medium thickness, and sinks in very quickly into the skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy residue like other hand creams, which is great if you want to use it at work and avoid a greasy keyboard or tools. It gas no discernible scent to me, which is nice. It is a really generous size for the price point, and will last a very long time which is a bonus! Overall it was a nice hand cream but didn’t blow me away in terms of effectiveness.

The Dermal Sensitive Skin Lotion is a nice, dependable , lotion for all skin types. It is of a medium to thick consistency, and applies quickly and easy to the skin with lots of glide. It sinks it pretty instantaneously, and leaves only a slight moisturising residue. It is great because despite having coconut oil as one of the main ingredients, it doesn’t leave a heavy or greasy residue like other coconut oil moisturisers do. The pump function is efficient and well-built, and feels sturdy enough to withstand slippery hands with moisturiser on them. It smells sorbelene-y, which is not a bad thing at all, and reminds me of dermatologically friendly products. While this lotion is good, it doesn’t really stand out to me, and therefore I wouldn’t repurchase it. It is also ar an exoensive price point per ml, however, it is understandable considering the high coconut oil content.

I haven’t used Biore nose strips since my teens - well over a decade ago now! So it was fun to try these and bring back some memories! The strips themselves are quite large, and I think they would suit a large range of nose sizes. On my small nose the overlapped onto my cheek area a bit so O trimmed them back to ease with removal. Application was super easy, and it just took some patience to wait for it to dry. Removal was - well - just as I remember! It was painful to remove, mostly due to the free nose wax the pore strip gives you. It is really satisfying to see all the sebaceous filaments on the strip, but ultimately the strips aren’t good for your pores as it can enlarge them. While the trip down memory lane was fun, I’ll be sticking to chemical exfoliants to keep my pores at bay.

For a facial moisturiser sporting shea butter and oils on it’s ingredients list, this moisturiser is surprisingly light and delicate. The moisturiser is on a thin consistency, and rubs in lightly and quickly. It leaves a hydrating sheen on the skin, likely in part to the oils in it. This leaves the skin dewy for sometime, and because of that I would recommend this as a spring/summer moisturiser. It is definitely more suited to being a day cream, as it wouldn’t be deeply moisturising for night or winter. It would be good for normal to oily skin, and as a dry skinned person I do find that I have to layer serums prior to keep my skin moisturised all day. The moisturiser is lightly and in-offensively scented, it smells like your classic glycerin/sorbelene body moisturiser. A downside is that due to it’s thin texture, I’m going through the tube really quickly.

I really enjoyed this Dermal lipbalm, it is excellent for dried and chapped lips as it claims. I live in a very dry climate, and during winter in particular my skin and lips suffer - dryness, tightness, chapping, and sometimes even cracking. I have sworn by Lanolips lanolin these past few years, and it takes a dang good lip balm to impress me. I can happily say that this did indeed impress. It goes on emollient and silky-smooth, and hydrates wonderfully. However, it’s longevity could be improved - I find it wears off quickly. Reapplication is easy due to the squeeze tube with the slanted tip, and hygienic as well (nothing worse than having to dip your fingers in a tub when out and about, especially during these COVID-19 times!). I feel like part of the reason it hydrates so well is because of the high proportion of fermented pawpaw in it. Overall, it’s a great lip balm at an affordable price point.

I love rosehip oil so was super excited to be selected to trial this Nude by Nature Bioactive Rosehip Oil, however, I was left too impressed by it. My skin type is dry and dehdyrated for reference. The amber colour of it suggests to me that it has been filtered/processed, compared to the deep orange rosehip oils I’m use to. Perhaps that is why it wasn’t as deeply moisturising as other rosehip oils I am used to. While it is moisturising, it didn’t give me that plump, dewy, moisturising that orange rosehip oils give. The upside of this oil compared to those is that it doesn’t tinge your bedsheet or pyjamas with orange, and it also doesn’t smell like traditional rosehip oil. The packaging is nice and I like the dropper function, which makes it easy to control how much product is dispensed. The frosted glass is a nice touch and makes it look classy.

I have been using Nivea’s Naturally Good Organic Chamomile Day Cream for a few weeks now, and have been impressed with it. I suffer from sensitive skin that often goes red, so I was keen to see if this cream would have any short or long term effects on that. The cream is of medium texture - thick but almost watery at the same time if that makes sense. It sinks in quickly and leaves a finish which retains moisture. My skin doesn’t feel tight or dry afterwards. However, I don’t think it’s moisturising enough for my dry skin type, even with layering of a hydrating serum and a facial oil. Temporarily, I think it does help to soothe any redness I have, but not by a huge amount. I think this cream would be good for those with a normal skin type and mild skin sensitivity issues. In general it is a great day cream though.
