This super soft, roomy turban is so easy to use. You just wrap it round wet hair and button at the back and within a few minutes hair is no longer dripping wet. Leave it on for 10 mins and hair is almost completely dry. I find it much easier to use and more absorbent than a towel, and the microfibre fabric is very gentle on hair. I also find because it's roomy and holds hair high on the head that it has a plopping effect, helping to encourage curls. The peach colour is pleasant and I don't mind walking around the house with it on! I got this one to review but it's very affordable and a great gift for anyone who wants to minimise drying time. For those who want to heat-style hair, this is the perfect first step to get the hair to the stage where only minimal heat time is required - so will keep damage at bay. It's winter now and so nice not to have dripping wet hair or to have to pull hair into a big painful towel, but I also plan to use it in summer after swimming.

This cute, rainbow-bristled brush is a fun one for younger teens. The bristles are super soft and don't hurt, and the gaps between them help them glide better through tangly hair. I won't call it effortless (!) but it's certainly better than most brushes and much more gentle, especially on tender scalps. The brush is quite large though not at all heavy and covers a lot of hair so it doesn't take long - my test was on very thick, wavy but not curly, hair with a lot of tangles and it worked well and left hair smooth and not frizzy as some brushing does. I haven't tried it with blow trying but I suspect it would work fine - though not very targeted and maybe too big for a fringe or front pieces (there is a mini version). Lady Jayne has been around a very long time and is easy to find and well priced. They certainly know a lot about detangling!

I got this masque in my Discovery Pack. Right off the bat I'm going to say how much I love the scent of this mask. I'm not normally keen on scented products and absolutely everything seems over-scented to me, but this mask smells wonderful - kind of like almonds or macadamias and that may be because it contains macadamia oil. It also contains aloe (second ingredient!), pomegranate and hibiscus extracts. It's 99.1% natural and the rich thick texture just melts right into the hair. I have coloured my hair before, although for the past year, I've only been using a mixture of henna and indigo, but I found that this has a lifting effect even natural hair colour, adding shine and making the colour seem a little stronger. Even if you don't colour your hair, this is an excellent conditioner particularly for when you want to do a deep condition - I'd say ideally once week, but it could also be used as a regular, after every shampoo conditioner. It left my hair super soft, curly, manageable, and very lightly scented. I also like the fact that it has eco-friendly packaging and that the French company is very ecologically-minded

I received this lipstick in my Beauty Bag and initially reviewed it with 4 stars but I've since found all sorts of ways to make this colour work for me, and have continued to wear it nearly daily, so am revising to 5. Firstly, this formulation glides on very easily and is comfortable on the lips all day. For a non-matte formulation with a good deal of shine, the pigmentation lasts a long time without ever being gooey or getting on the teeth (bugbear) with colour staying in place and not migrating which sometimes happens with shiny lipsticks (especially on older women like me). The natural formulation is good for the lips and includes all sorts of moisturising ingredients like shea butter, candelilla wax, aloe, and vit E, with nothing nasty you won't want on your mouth. The silver case is slightly slimmer than most lipsticks and as long as you press it till it clicks, it stays closed in the handbag and looks great when you take it out in public to touch up, which you won't need to do often because it actually stays put in spite of the shine. I initially thought the Golden Gate colour was too bright for me, but I've been able to give myself a very natural looking stain by applying lightly with a lip brush, for a beautiful and delicate effect. I can also make it quite a bit more of a wine shade by just adding a tiny bit of brown eyeshadow or darker lip liner and blending in (it blends very easily and melds with other colours perfectly - no graininess or clumping at all). I've come to like this lipstick very much indeed for its versatility, how it gives my lips a plump and smoothing effect and I find I can really vary the colour depending on how I apply it and what I combine with. Very high quality!

This anti-aging serum is thick - it goes on thick and takes a good 5 mins to dry even if you use it as thinly as possible, but the serum is very high potency, with a range of fancy ingredients at good concentrations, including one right at the cutting edge of science - WrinFix-Px - derived from beechwood and proven to promote production of collagen in the skin to improve firmness and elasticity (I looked it up so you don't have to!). It has no scent (hurrah!) and is a bronzy orange shade that instantly lifts the complexion. My skin is sensitive but this didn't irritate my skin at all and in fact left it smooth, supple and ready for moisturiser but also soft enough not to need any additional moisture if you're a true skincare minimalist (though I have quite dry skin so I do like to finish with a good moisturiser). This can be used day and night and the small opaque bottle dispenses just the right amount of serum. You can use this day and night but because it's so thick I prefer to use a little thicker at night which leaves skin super soft in the morning and ready for makeup. This is a very good mid-range priced product from a very reputable Australian company with ethical practices. My only qualm is that you do need to give this a good amount of time to sink in - it takes about 3-4 mins for me - before you can put moisturiser on.

I received this lipstick in the shade of "Golden Gate", an almost magenta shade on my lips that is able to be used very lightly as a tint or build up to a super intense shade, probably for evening only. The formula is very nice - super moisturising and nicely shiny without being too slippery or sticky, and the combination of shea butter, aloe vera and vitamin E left my lips quite soft while lasting all morning without the need to retouch. I really like the slim silver case which fits neatly in my handbag and locks together well when you press it. The lipsticks have the faintest fruity scent but nothing cloying or unpleasant and the slim size makes for an easy, targeted application with just enough point to get an even edge. I didn't really notice the advertised plumping result, but just having my lips moisturised and the bit of shine does help them look their fullest (plumper lips isn't really something that I aspire to though). I wear lipstick all the time and am particularly careful that the products I use don't contain petroleums and endocrine disruptors like mineral oil, phthalates, and paraben, much less lead - you might be surprised at what some of those cheap dupes or imports contain, but Mavala lipsticks don't have any nasty ingredients and are as good for the lips as a balm. My only gripe and it's pretty minor, is that there are no images of people wearing the lipsticks on their website, which makes it very difficult to choose the right colour. Given how many colours they have, this would be helpful as I'd really like to try and find the perfect shade but not easy to do with those unrepresentative images. But that said, this is really a lovely formulation and the new packaging is a nice improvement.

Full disclaimer - I've never worn false eyelashes before, and also I'm a bit clumsy - chronically smudging mascara etc, so I'm not able to assess these as anything other than a beginner. That said, they were not super difficult to use, being pre-glued, and I was able to apply them reasonably quickly with a normal tweezer though it did take a few goes on some of them, falling off. I found I got a better result with mascara n my lashes first to give better hold and a more even effect between my own paler lashes and these l-o-n-g dark ones. The clusters do seem to look more natural than a full strip lash, but they were still so much darker and longer than my own lashes that I cannot say they looked like anything there than false lashes and a few people did ask me if I was wearing falsies (I was hoping they'd just think I looked extra glamorous!). Once they were in place, they were light and soft, and didn't cause any irritation (I suspect the pre-glued would be less irritating than using a separate lash glue). For me, the more natural Mackenzie range would probably work better, but if you're looking to really swish up the look and have your eyes look very dramatic without having to pay someone to do it or go to any great lengths or if you have issues with wearing mascara, these will certainly do the trick.

I have been using this product in conjunction with the night cream for just under a month, applying generously every morning before applying makeup (during the week). I have not used a serum or anything else during this time and my skin is very soft, blemish-free, and, I feel, a little smoother, denser and brighter. The actives in this cream are spot on with Bakuchiol, Pro-Ceramides, and Vanilla Polyphenols which are anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory (just what aging skin needs). Though the cream is quite thick, it absorbs very quickly into the skin and is not at all greasy, creating the right texture for applying makeup. As with the night cream, the scent is very strong - heavy on the jasmine and almost cloying but it dissipates quickly. I don't wear other scents so there's no issue of a clash and because it disappears I suspect it won't clash with other fragrances but for those who do wear perfume, the strong initial scent could be an issue. I like the idea of a recyclable package, and this one is attractive with its clear glass and dark refill, but it does mean there is actually less product in the jar than if it were full. Also I was not able to find the refills for sale anywhere in Australia and it looks like the refill container is plastic not glass like the jar, so not sure of the ecological or budgetary benefits of this packaging. Also, while the night cream's pack is very hygienic, I do have to dip fingers right into this product to apply it. My hands are always clean before using but I still suspect germs can get in with this kind of pack. That said, this was still a very effective product which is having very positive anti-aging and moisturising effects on my skin and is an excellent day cream for aging skin that I would certainly recommend.
