Thanks Beautyheaven for the opportunity to try the Neutrogena Visible Repair Regenerating Cream. I’ve been using this cream every night for the last 10 days and my first impressions are really positive! I’m in my mid 50’s and my skin type is typically dry and mature. My main concerns are fine lines, loss of volume and skin firmness and hyperpigmentation. This cream is rich and hydrating, but not greasy or oily, I loved the texture of the cream, I found it so nourishing and moisturising. I have used retinol products before so I wasn’t too concerned with sensitivity but I did do a spot test just in case. Luckily I had no reaction and I was able to use the cream every night. This cream is formulated with a comfort complex to minimize skin reactions. It does have subtle fragrance but it’s not too overpowering and it’s quite pleasant. After using this cream for a relatively short time, I am seeing improvements, my skin just looks more hydrated, feels so soft and plump. I haven’t seen noticeable improvement to the dark spots, but it’s still early days, hopefully I’ll see some changes with continual use. I’ve been using it also on my neck and décolletage as sadly my neck is starting to really show my age. I’m really happy with the results so far, that area is looking more youthful and the skin feels firmer. I’ve also started to use it on the back of my hands as a nightly treatment to plump up that skin. So far, I’ve really enjoyed using this cream and I’m pleasantly surprised with how my skin has improved in such a short time. I’ll definitely keep using this and would consider repurchasing in the future. I would recommend this if you are new to retinol products, it’s a great all round anti aging cream just remember to start slow and build it into your nightly regime.

Thanks Beautyheaven for the opportunity to try this serum for treating hyperpigmentation. This serum contains a novel new ingredient called Melasyl, niacinamide 10% and vitamin B3 to tackle dark spots and uneven skintone. I’m in my mid 50’s with mature dry skin, my main skincare concern is hyperpigmentation. I guess sunbaking during my teen years has caught up with me. I have noticeable dark spots on my cheek bones which really annoy me. The serum comes packaged in a purple tinted glass dropper bottle and contains 30ml of serum. I was grateful for the opportunity to trial for 12 weeks but unfortunately the serum only lasted about 10 weeks but did give me ample time to test before reviewing. I applied a few drops of serum to freshly cleansed skin, before applying moisturiser. During the daytime, I applied my sunscreen as the final step of my routine. The pink coloured serum had quite a thick gel like texture and I found it very hydrating and it applied smoothly, it was not sticky or greasy and it didn’t pill under my skincare or when I applied my make up, so it’s great for layering with other products. Unfortunately the serum does contain fragrance which I found to be a bit strong for me, although by the end of the trial I did get used to it. Now to the results, I had high hopes for this serum as Melasyl is promoted as being able to intercept excess melanin before it appears on the skin by trapping melanin precursors. I did take my own before and after photos and I could see very subtle difference in a large sun spot on my right cheek, the spot had faded a bit and my skin looks hydrated, felt soft and smooth and overall my skin looks brighter. I would have loved to have continued using it to see if there was further improvements. I think the serum is quite expensive. It’s hard to know which ingredient the niacinamide 10% or Melasyl is making the difference and you can certainly buy niacinamide serums for a lot less. I think if you have mild hyperpigmentation, maybe post acne scars it could be a good product to reduce and prevent further darkening of the spots. Sadly my dark sun spots have built up over a long period of time so any topical product would produce only minimal results. I’d consider buying it again if I could find it on sale but I’d rate it 3.5 stars, due to affordability and the strong fragrance. My personal preference for non scented or low fragranced skincare. Thanks again Beautyheaven for inviting me to trial.

I was super excited to try the John Plunkets SuperLift Face Lift Serum. It’s a powerhouse serum containing 1% retinol, peptides and hyaluronic acid, so many active ingredients to combat the signs of aging. I’m in my early 50’s and this serum sounds perfect for me. I have fine lines, a few wrinkles developing and I’m beginning to notice reduction of skin density and loss of firmness. I have used retinol products before and have not experienced any irritation or sensitivity, so I wasn’t expecting any issues with this one, but it’s best to be cautious with any new skin product. I followed the initial instructions which was to use the serum three times a week then proceed with daily night time use if there are no issues experienced. The packaging is simple but effective, an airless pump container containing 15ml of product. I think based on the volume, it’s quite expensive but if you buy it when it’s one sale, it’s more cost effective. After cleansing my face and I used this on dry skin. I applied the serum every evening. Make sure you avoid the delicate lip and eye area. The serum was a pale yellow colour, very light in texture and absorbed easily into my skin. Just one pump is sufficient to cover my whole face. It does contain a light fragrance which I found quite pleasant. I followed with my regular night cream afterwards. I wished we have more time to trial as two weeks is not a lot of time to test a serum. However, I can say that I was very happy that my skin showed no irritation or redness. My skin felt smooth and soft. I didn’t experience any dryness or peeling flaking skin. The serum was gentle enough for me to use daily. I think I am noticing subtle improvements. In the morning my skin is looking more radiant and healthy. It’s still early days yet, but I do hope with continued usage my skin will benefit from the anti aging ingredients. I’m more than happy to continue using this. I think it’s a great starter retinol product that doesn’t require a prescription.

I’ve used the original Bio Oil before and I was excited to try this natural version. I was happy to see it is 100% derived from natural ingredients. The Bio Oil is packaged in a cylindrical plastic bottle, the small opening allows a few drops to be dispensed easily, if you squeeze the bottle harder like I did, it will gush out so be mindful of that. One small improvement would be to have the information on the bottle in a different colour, the orange print was a bit hard for me to read easily. I love the versatility of this product, you can use it to fade scars, prevent stretch marks, improve uneven skin tone and hydrate and mositurise your skin. I’ve been adding a few drops to my usual body moisturiser to help with my dry skin. It’s been so cold and I do love my hot showers, I know it’s really bad for my skin, but the thought of luke warm water in Winter is not appealing to me. It has helped with moisturising and preventing flaking dry spots on my legs. The Bio oil has a lovely subtle natural scent and even though it’s an oil, it doesn’t leave an oily or greasy residue. I found it absorbed easily when I used it on its own or with mixed with my body lotion. I’ve also been using it on my hands before I go to bed as a hydrating treatment and rubbing it on dry cuticles too. My daughter has lots of mozzie bite scars, where the skin goes a darker colour when it’s healed and I’ve been using it on the spots to fade them. Such a wonderful versatile product that is handy to have in your beauty kit and gentle enough for the whole family. Highly recommended!

I was really excited to try the Manicare Contour Roller set, the thought of visibly toner and firmer skin sounds great! I’m in my early 50’s so anything to tighten and firm my aging skin sounds right up my alley. The roller set comes with two attachments, a larger contour roller for jawline, cheeks and neck area, plus a smaller T bar attachment to massage the delicate area under my eyes. You will need a single AA battery to power the device, which is not supplied. I found it easy to install the battery and inter change the two different attachment heads. The device looked like it was made well and had a great heft/weight feel to it, it didn’t feel flimsy. I have incorporated this into my nighttime skin care routine so easily, after cleansing my face in the evening, I really looked forward to using this. It was part of my destressing, relaxing ritual in front of the TV once I’d finished dinner and cleaned up for the night. I used a few drops of my facial oil before using the roller, this increased the slip and ensured the roller did not drag on my skin. I used the larger attachment first and using upward rolling movements, I gently rolled the massager over my jawline, cheeks and neck. Make sure you don’t roll backwards and forwards, only upwards. Then I changed to the T bar roller to gently massage my under eye area. After a few minutes of using the roller, my skin looked a bit flushed and red, so there was a definite increase in skin circulation. Time will tell if through continued use, my skin will be noticeably firmer, but at the moment I’m just enjoying this for de-stressing relaxing aspects. To be honest, I did prefer using this without the sonic vibrations, it feels nicer to use this way, so I tend to mix it up a bit, sometimes I use it powered and sometimes just the rollers by itself. Thank you so much Beautyheaven for introducing me to this great device, it’s not something I would have purchased for myself so it’s a real treat.

Thanks Beautyheaven for the opportunity to try this leave in conditioner. After washing and towel drying my hair, I squeezed a small dollop about the size of 5 cent piece on the palm of my hands, then I gradually smoothed it onto the lower lengths of my damp hair. The leave in conditioner has a lovely thick consistency and I really enjoyed the fragrance. It does have a strong scent so if you’re not keen on overtly fragranced products this might not be the right one for you. Once the conditioner is distributed the fragrance does fade somewhat. I have very long, fine hair and I like how my hair looks shiny and frizz free after using it. It doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it look oily or limp. I can style and dry my hair as usual after it, my hair is always bouncy and voluminous after. I like the plastic squeeze tube, it is very user friendly and I found it easy to dispense just the right amount. The tube contains 100ml of product which is quite generous in size, considering a little bit goes a long way. Overall I’m pretty happy with how my hair looks and feels and I something I’ll happily use again.

Thanks Beautyheaven for the opportunity to try the Ardell Light as Air false lashes 521. Firstly, I confess I’m not a keen user of false lashes, even though my sad sparse lashes could benefit from them. I’ve never really had much success in applying them and previously found them uncomfortable , they are just not worth the trouble for me. But then…along came these Ardell lashes which has restored my faith in trying false lashes again. I think it’s important to google a few videos on lash application before, it did really help. I curled my lashes and applied mascara as usual before using the false lashes. This helps blend in the falsies. The first thing to do is measure the lashes and trim off the excess, that step is so important and the reason why my previous experiences have been dismal! It they don’t fit they just dig in and cause discomfort. Once you’ve trimmed both sets of lashes to fit, then apply the lash glue. I found it easier to apply a small dob of glue on back of my hand then run the band of the lash through the dob to coat the lash band. Let the glue air dry for 20 seconds, during that wait time, I gently bent the lash band back and forth to soften the band before applying the lash. Make sure you have sufficient glue on the ends of the lash to hold it in place otherwise it will start to lift. Place the false lash onto the eye lid, as close to your natural lashes as possible. Then gently press the your natural lashes to blend in. The Ardell Light as Air is true to their word, they felt so light and comfortable on, I was so surprised! The style I received was 521 and although too dramatic for day time wear. They would be gorgeous for date night or a special occasion. I managed to wear these for a good 4-6 hours which would definitely get me through most of an evening out. I loved how much they totally transformed my eyes, they looked amazing! How I wish I could have natural lashes that were fluttery and voluminous! But now I can at least fake them! They are reusable and probably last up to 6 wears depending how gentle you are when you remove them. The glue was white but dried clear so they was no tell tale glue blobs that you could see. The lash band is also very discreet and blend well with my natural lashes. Over all I’m pretty impressed considering I’m a newbie when it comes to using false lashes. Practice does improve application process. The more you try applying the better you get at doing it. If you want to try lashes for the first time, I’d give these a go, they have everything you need to transform your lashes into a glamorous nighttime look!

I love the idea of a product that combines both the hydrating components of a hand cream and sanitiser in one. The Du’It Tough Shield Sanitising Hand Cream provides up to 6 hours anti microbial protection, I’m unsure if it kills viruses so whether it would provide some protection against catching colds/ influenza or Covid. Especially now more than ever, good hand hygiene is paramount to our self care. I have been leaving this to use in my car, when ever I’ve finished at the gym or gone shopping, it’s good to know I can easily sanitise my hands before I drive home. I love that this is so much more gentle on my hands than traditional sanitisers that contain alcohol. It massages in easily without leaving any greasy or oily residue. It doesn’t provide long lasting hydration but definitely much better than using a sanitiser gel on its own. The Tough Shield Sanitising Hand Cream comes packaged in a plastic squeeze tube and contains 75g of product. I like the flip top lid, it makes it easy to use and seal the tube each time. The cream has a subtle fragrance which I find pleasant to use. I’ve enjoyed using this in place of my regular hand sanitiser and my hands are so much better for it. A great useful product I would buy again.

I have a bit of a confession, before this trial I rarely exfoliated my back. Of course during showering, my back gets a good soak but I’m sure there were parts I couldn’t reach properly. I’m flexible but not a contortionist….Lol! I’ve really enjoyed scrubbing and washing my back with this. My skin feels so soft and smooth afterwards. The back scrubber is made of stretchy material with two cotton loops so your hands can easily grab the scrubber to gently exfoliate and wash your back. I usually soak the scrubber with water to soften the material then apply my shower gel directly to the middle of the panel then using a gently seesawing action give my back a good scrub. I attempted to scrub my feet but I don’t recommend it if you are ticklish like me! This is a product you didn’t think you needed, but once you discover it you wonder why it took you so long to buy one and now can’t live without it. It’s fun to use and works a treat! Highly recommended by me.

I was lucky to trial this as part of Beautyheaven Biggest Giveaway trial and these are my first impressions after using this for two weeks. The Kiehls Retinol Skin- Renewing Daily Micro Dose serum is packaged in a glass container and contains 50ml of serum. I think the packaging is luxurious, it feels and looks like a high end skincare product. The pump dispenser is user friendly and airless packaging ensures the product is fresh and prevents oxidation of the active ingredients. I couldn’t detect any notable fragrance or scent to this serum. I would have loved to had more time to throughly test it before reviewing because with new skincare products it can take a few months before any results are visible. However, in the short time that I was trialing it, I really enjoyed using it and I’m looking forward to restarting this again. Firstly, if you’re new to retinol or have sensitive skin I always do a patch test before using. So I applied it to a small test area around my jawline and neck and after 24 hours (no reaction) I was happy to start using this product. The Kiehls Retinol Skin- Renewing Daily Micro Dose serum has just a lovely texture. The lemony yellow serum feels so light on my skin and absorbs readily. The instructions are to apply one pump of serum on freshly cleaned, dry skin, once daily. I chose to use this at night, because when using retinol, it’s best to avoid sun exposure. Then I applied my regular night cream afterwards. After using this for a few weeks, I could see small changes in the texture and firmness of my skin, my skin looked so healthy and radiant. If you’re new to retinol I can highly recommend this, the micro dose was perfect for me to use this on a daily basis. With some retinol products you have to gradually work up to daily usage. I experienced no irritation, dryness, redness or peeling after using this. This serum also contains ceramide and peptide which had the extra benefit of hydrating my skin and hopefully with prolonged use, a softening of the appearance of lines and wrinkles. In the short period I tried this, I loved it and cant wait to start using this again for continued improvement to my skin.
