BREMERTON — Five Forks wrestlers won matches at the prestigious Gut Check Invitational, with three wrestlers making the quarterfinals.
Hundreds of wrestlers from all over Washington competed at the Gut Check on Friday and Saturday.
Among Forks wrestlers, Jack Dahlgren had the best tournament at 195 pounds, winning three matches, two by fall and a third by a score of 15-0, before losing in the quarterfinals 11-7. He went on to win six out of eight matches total and finished the meet in fifth place.
Kenny Gale at 182 pounds won two matches, one by a score of 19-10 and a second by a fall. He lost a third match in the quarterfinals by a close score of 1-0.
Josue Lucas, at 106 pounds, won two matches by pin and by a 4-2 decision, but lost in the quarterfinals by a 9-2 score.
Luke Dahlgren, at 220 pounds, won by a fall, but got a bad draw, losing his second match to Noel Orozco of Granger. Orozco ended up winning the 220-pound division. Luke Dahlgren won a second match in the consolation bracket.
Ben Basden and Cody Anderson both came in eighth place for the Roughriders.
Anderson won four out of six matches total at 120 pounds, while Basden won five out of seven matches at 138 pounds. Basden won three matches by pin.
Forks ended up 30th with 44.5 points. Port Angeles came in 40th with 28 points. Toppenish was first with 173 points. A total of 58 schools participated.
