WRESTLING: Forks wins 7th-straight Evergreen League title

Peninsula Daily News

MONTESANO — Forks won its seventh straight Evergreen League championship with a 65-18 dual-meet victory against Montesano, but it wasn’t quite the rout the score would have you believe.

The Spartans actually trailed 18-12 after losing two matches by pin and one by forfeit.

But Forks picked up nine wins in a row, six by pin, to leave no doubt against the Bulldogs.

Winning by pin for the Spartans: Ariel Morales (132 pounds); Cru Demorest (138); Luis Perez (145); Hayden Queen (160); Brett Moody (170); Josh Salazar (182) and Shane Queen (195).

Hayden Baker also earned a technical fall win with an 18-3 victory at 152 pounds.

Forks will open the postseason with the Sub Regional Tournament at the Hub in Centralia on Saturday.
