WILDER SR.: Olson throws two-hit complete-game shutout in 8-0 win

BELLINGHAM — An outstanding pitching performance by Forks’ Logan Olson snapped a four-game losing streak for Wilder Sr.

Olson pitched a seven-inning complete-game shutout, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits, both singles, and no walks in an 8-0 win to begin a doubleheader against Bellingham Post No. 7.

Olson got plenty of offensive support as Wilder collected 10 hits, including five extra-base hits. Jacob Felton went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Wyatt Hall had a double and a triple and scored two runs. Seth Woods went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Connor Bear had a double, a run scored and two RBIs, while Adam Watkins had a triple and an RBI.

In the nightcap, Wilder Sr. was beaten 6-3. Wilder Sr. was bitten again by late runs. Bellingham Post No. 7 broke open a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Wilder Sr. scored a run in the top of the sixth, but that was all they could manage the rest of the game.

Watkins took the loss in this one, going five innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits and four walks.

At plate, Watkins led the team, going 2-for-3. Bear had a double and a run scored, while Ty Bradow, Landon Seibel and Felton all had singles. Felton added a walk and a run scored.

The weekend action leaves Wilder Sr. with a 3-3 record in American Legion AAA Area 1 standings, tied for second place.

Wilder will play on the road with five games scheduled at the Garrettson Tournament in Yakima beginning Thursday. They return to Port Angeles to host the Dick Brown Memorial Tournament at Civic Field beginning July 1.
