PORT ANGELES — The Wilder Jr. baseball club had a successful weekend, winning three out of five games at Volunteer Field.
Wilder Jr. got off to a good start in a doubleheader Friday, beating Anacortes AA 7-4 and the Riverdogs Junior 13-9. Wilder Jr. lost to Kitsap AA 10-3 on Saturday.
Kitsap AA is sponsored by Angeles Furniture of Port Angeles and has some Olympic Peninsula ballplayers such as Jaxson Gray of Sequim.
Wilder Jr. bounced back and beat the Riverdogs Junior a second time 12-2 on Sunday, then completed their weekend, losing a rematch with Kitsap AA 9-4.
“Colton Romero, Ezra Townsend and Gunner Rogers had a fantastic weekend at the plate,” said coach Dayne Brown.
“Cole Johnson, James Burkhardt and Romero threw well and kept their batters off-balance,” Brown said.
