WEST COAST LEAGUE: Port Angeles Lefties fall in WCL opener to Bellingham

Port Angeles Lefties drop WCL opener

BELLINGHAM — The Port Angeles Lefties dropped their West Coast League opener Friday, giving up four runs in the first inning en route to a 7-3 road loss to the Bellingham Bells.

Shea Thomas of Edmonds Community College had a good game, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and two RBIs. Trevor Tishenkil (Cal) and Garret Lake (Purdue-Fort Wayne) each had a hit and a run scored for the Lefties. Jack Holman (UCLA) had an RBI.

On the mound Corey Sanchez of San Jose State started, taking the loss. He gave up six earned runs in 4â…“ innings. Preston Howey of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, kept the Lefties in the game, going the final 3â…” innings, giving up just one hit, walking one and striking out four.

The Lefties (0-1) and Bells played the second game of their series Saturday night after press deadline and will finish up their three-game series at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham at 1 p.m. Sunday. To watch the games live, go to www.facebook.com/lefties baseball.
