WEST COAST LEAGUE: Lefties lose another close one

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties are hanging tough in nearly every game this season, but they suffered another close loss, 4-2 to Ridgefield, to start a seven-game homestand.

The Lefties went up against Dylan Stewart of Pepperdine, who had a combined no-hitter in his last game. He pitched five innings of three-hit ball against the Lefties. Ridgefield’s bullpen mowed down 10 straight Port Angeles batters to close out the game.

The Lefties pitched well enough to win, allowing just eight hits. Tyler Bebout (Capital U), Eric Schumann (Embry-Riddle) and Ryan Wike (University of Jamestown) combined to pitch 5â…“ scoreless innings, giving up a combined two hits.

Jack Kleveno (Utah) was 2-for-4 and Robert Nunez (Embry-Riddle) hit a triple. Sean Dickinson (Oklahoma Baptist) had a hit and an RBI. Ryomo Imai (Mount Hood CC) had a hit in his first game for the Lefties.

It was the fifth Lefties’ loss of the young season by one or two runs.

Port Angeles (3-10) faced Ridgefield (4-8) Wednesday night after press deadline. The Lefties wrap up their three-game series against the Raptors at 6:35 p.m. tonight, then begin a three-game series at Civic Field against the Kelowna Falcons at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
