PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles junior Teanna Clark broke a 23-year old Roughriders’ track and field school record at home during a combined Olympic League/North Olympic League meet with Bainbridge, Neah Bay and Clallam Bay.
Clark threw the javelin 134-feet, 2-inches to beat the previous record holder Holly Dimmels (125-10), according to former Riders’ track coach Bob Sheedy.
Clark’s throw is the third-longest overall distance across all classifications in the state this year and also is tops amongst Class 2A competitors in 2025.
High schools switched to a college-standard javelin with a different center of gravity after the 2002 season to make the event safer and more manageable.
Port Angeles finished second in the girls’ team competition with 41 points, while Bainbridge had 80.5.
Clark also won the discus, setting a personal best distance of 71-02. Freshman Isabella Huff edged out teammate Sariah Doherty for the shot put 23-04 to 22-06.
Brooke Pierce cleared 4-08 in the high jump as the Riders fared well in the field.
Shavari Epps 100-meter hurdles and Leia Larson (800) also won their events for Port Angeles.
Neah Bay’s Angel Halttunen turned in a time of 27.16 seconds to win the 200-meter sprint.
In the boys portion of the meet, Liam Wilson and Easton Dempsey ran to multiple-event victories to lift the Riders to the top spot with 81 points, well ahead of Bainbridge (45).
Dempsey set a personal record in the 400 (52.5) and also won the 800 (2:11.02).
Wilson won the 100 in a personal-best time of 11.65 seconds and took the 200 in 23.93.
Port Angeles did well in the jumps and throwing events.
