STATE VOLLEYBALL: Neah Bay makes state quarterfinals

YAKIMA — The Neah Bay volleyball team is in the 1B state quarterfinals after beating Taholah 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-22) in the Red Devils’ opening round game of the tournament Wednesday at the Yakima SunDome.

The Red Devils, a No. 11 seed, plays No. 3 seed Fellowship Christian late Wednesday after press deadline. If Neah Bay wins, they play in the state semifinals at noon today. If they lose, they play in the consolation bracket at 10 a.m. Neah Bay made it to the 1B championship game last year.

Meanwhile, Forks, playing in the same venue in the 2B tournament, lost its opener 3-0 (25-22, 22-22, 25-18) to River View.

Despite the loss, the Spartans, champions of the Pacific 2B League, are still alive and are one of the higher seeds in the consolation bracket at No. 10. They played Warden, a No. 15 seed in the consolation bracket after press deadline.

If Forks wins, the Spartans play at 8 a.m. today against either Goldendale, a No. 14 seed, or Davenport, a No. 11 seed. If they win that match, they would play again at noon today.
