Sports: South Kitsap rally keeps Port Angeles soccer team winless

PORT ANGELES — Sparked by a late second-half rally, the South Kitsap boys soccer team defeated Port Angeles 2-0 in Narrows League play on Thursday.

“We held them scoreless in the first half,”‘ Roughriders head coach Chris Saari said. “They just caught us on a couple of mistakes, that’s all.”

After losing by eight to South Kitsap in their first game of the season, the Roughriders walked away from the loss with their heads held high.

“It was a moral victory, that’s for sure,” Saari said. “We’re making huge leaps, it’s just not showing up in the score.”

Levi Sahrenholtz led the Roughriders (0-10 in league, 0-10-1 overall) with 15 saves in front of the net.

Coming out of the half tied 0-0, South Kitsap scored back-to-back goals in the 65th and 67th minute.

Port Angeles will travel to Olympic on Tuesday.
