Sports: Sequim sneaks into district soccer tourney

SEQUIM — Sequim did all it could do then had to sit back and let the chips fall where they may.

Sequim, which finished strong winning four of its last five games, tied Vashon High School for fifth place in the Nisqually League and sneaks into the 3A District tournament as the No. 11 seed, Sequim soccer coach Dave Brasher said.

Sequim finished 6-4 in league and 8-7-1 overall, on the season.

The Wolves play 6 p.m. Wednesday at White River High School in Buckley, in a Class 3A Seamont League District loser-out contest.

“I feel as good as I can feel,”‘ Brasher said.

“We’ve got a full team and if we play loose we’ve got a good chance to win.

“We’re always the hated stepchild of the tournament. Hopefully we can come in and disrupt things this year as well.”

Sequim won the district title last year eventually losing in the first round of the state tournament.
