Sports: Sequim runner sets course record, but Port Angeles dominates meet

PORT ANGELES — Sequim’s Stephanie Marcy set a course record while Port Angeles dominated the boys race at a three-way dual meet between the Roughriders, Wolves and Port Townsend Redskins Thursday afternoon.

Marcy broke the course record at Robin Hill Farm County Park, Port Angeles’ home course, with a winning time of 18 minutes, 20 seconds on the 2.95-mile course.

Teammate Laura Moser was way back in second with a time of 20:39.

But home team Port Angeles dominated the boys race by capturing six of the top seven places, winning with a score of 17 to Sequim’s 61 and Port Townsend’s 66.

In head-to-head competition, the Riders beat Sequim 17-44 and defeated Port Townsend 15-49.

The Wolves nipped the Redskins by one, 27-28.

Sam Hennessey of Port Angeles smoked the field by winning in 16 minutes, 45 seconds while teammates Thomas Christian was second (17:24) and Johnny Bradford third (17:29).
