Sports: Sequim exacts revenge against Port Townsend 18-8

PORT TOWNSEND — When you”re hot you’re hot, and that’s precisely what the Sequim High School baseball team’s bats were Wednesday — sizzling hot.

The Wolves held nothing back as they knocked off Port Townsend 18-8 in Nisqually League play, exacting their revenge from an earlier loss to the Redskins.

“We’re just ripping the cover off of the baseball right now,” Wolves head coach Dan Perry said. “This team is on fire.”

With an offensive arsenal as his back-up, Wolves pitcher Chad Wagner had little trouble picking up the win, giving up four runs on three hits, with two strikeouts in two innings pitched.

Shaun Johnson led the way at the plate for the Wolves (8-3 in league, 12-6 overall), going 4-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBIs.

Behind Johnson, but not by far was Aaron Petroff, who went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and five RBIs.

Also getting things done for Sequim were John Coon (2-for-4, RBIs), Wyatt Short (2-for-3, two RBIs) and Chris Keathley (1-for-3, three RBIs).

The Redskins (5-6 in league) were led offensively by Isaiah Sather, who was 3-for-4, and Keith Johnson (2-for-2, double).
