Sports: Roughriders win division championship

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School fastpitch team won the Bridge Division championship with an 11-3 Narrows League victory over Olympic on Tuesday at Lincoln Park.

The Roughriders are 11-2 in league and 14-3 overall.

Julia Cheney improved her pitching record to 7-1 and went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Nicole Wood was 3-for-5 with a pair of triples, Jodie Jones went 2-for-5 and drove in a run and Brittany Senf was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Riders.

“The division title was one of our team goals,”‘ said Port Angeles coach Rene Lancaster. “Heading into postseason play we’re focused and everyone is contributing. The team is playing well and having a lot of fun doing it.”
