PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles worked its way back from 18-10 hole, scoring 21 points in the third quarter to beat Mariner 56-55 in its preseason opener on Saturday.

Matt Sinnes scored 12 points and pulled down eight boards to lead the Roughriders’ win.

Port Angeles couldn’t convert its free throws as Mariner totaled 27 fouls. The Riders went 17-for-29 from the line and 8-for-15 in the first half.

Andy Ochs netted 10 points while Jordan Tschimperle and Nate Gossard each added nine as Port Angeles (1-0) finally pulled ahead, 46-45, at the end of the third quarter.

Colin Anderson grabbed nine rebounds for the Riders.

The teams were even during the fourth.

In a low scoring game, both teams had trouble hitting their 3-pointers.

The Roughriders were only 1-for-10 and the Marauders were 5-for-23.

Chimacum 79, Clallam Bay 55

CHIMACUM — Robbie Andrus scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Chimacum over Clallam Bay (0-2).

Rayford McWilliams and Reid Lawson each added 12 points for the Cowboys (1-0).

In a losing effort, Fidel Angulo led the Bruins’ scoring with 16.

Port Townsend 66, Knappa, Ore., 54

PORT TOWNSEND — Giving Port Townsend an early 2-0 record, Jared Robinson netted 16 points to help the Redskins over Knappa, Ore.

Leif Whittaker, 15 points, and Grant Foster, eight, each chipped in on offense.
