Sports: Port Angeles High School outfielder named to state all-star team

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles senior center fielder Adam Macomber has been named to the Class 4A State All-Star baseball team.

The state All-Stars will play Saturday and Sunday on Dan White Field at Eastmont High School in Wentachee. Times have not been determined for the four teams.

Macomber also earned first team Narrows All-League honors and was selected to the Narrows League senior All-Star game in Bremerton earlier this month where he won the home-to-home baserunning challenge.

Macomber, also a star football player who plans on playing football at Eastern Washington University next year, had a .375 batting average during the regular season as well as an on-base percentage of .598.

“(Macomber) just leads by example and is a hard worker on the field or in the weightroom,”‘ head baseball coach Bob Withrow said.

“But probably his greatest attribute is his attitude and sense of humor. He’s a great person on the bus and is always the last guy to leave the field.

“He’s just a generous kid and a lot of kids are going to miss him when he leaves.”
