Sports: Port Angeles blanks Bremerton

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School baseball team continued its upward march in Narrows League play on Wednesday, defeating Bremerton 6-0.

Jared Anderson (3-0) picked up the win on the hill for the Roughriders, giving up just one hit with two strikeouts in three innings pitched.

“He’s all strikes,” Riders head coach Bob Withrow said. “He just doesn’t do walks.”

Backed by solid defense, the Port Angeles bats came alive, led by Perry Knudsen with a current 10-game hitting streak.

He was 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Riders, who are now 5-3 in league and 10-3 overall.

Behind Knudsen was Chris Stone (2-for-4, scored twice) and Dale Shofstahl (3-for-4, four RBIs).

“These guys are really getting the job done with the bats,” Withrow said. “I mean tearing the cover off.”

Port Angeles defeated Bremerton 13-6 in the first of its two season meetings on Tuesday, moving the Riders above .500 in league play.

Port Angeles will take on Olympic today at 4:45 p.m. at Volunteer Park before heading off to Shelton on Friday.
