SPOKANE — The Gianukakis brothers were too much for Neah Bay High School.
The two brothers combined for 53 points, leading Republic to a 71-47 win over Neah Bay in the quarterfinals of the boys Class B state tournament on Thursday afternoon.
“It just wasn’t our day today,” Neah Bay coach Gordon Smith said.
The Red Devils now will be playing for fourth place. They will compete against Liberty Christian (19-8), a quarterfinal loser to Morton, in the fourth-place semifinals today at 2:30 p.m. in Spokane Arena.
Today’s loser goes home while the winner plays for fourth place Saturday afternoon.
Fourth place would be the best Neah Bay state finish in history.
The Red Devils, who captured eighth place in state a year ago, can finish no lower than seventh if they win today.
