YAKIMA — Crescent High School’s first state volleyball appearance in 18 years came to an early end Friday, even though the Loggers’ second match started an hour and a half late.
Crescent, which carried a 16-2 record into the Yakima SunDome, went 0-2 at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Class B Championship Tournament.
“I think that nerves got to us but being a senior and being at state is what it’s all about,” said Bailey Marsh, one of four Loggers seniors.
Marsh finished the tournament with a team-high 33 assists, 23 in the Loggers’ 3-2 opening loss to Morton, the top seed from the South Central District and the state’s eighth-place team last year.
Crescent entered as the No. 3 seed from the Tri-District. Game scores against Morton were 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25 and 15-7 as Crescent rallied from two games down before succumbing.
