SPORTS: Brocklesby leads area athletes at Shelton Invitational

SHELTON — Sequim’s Jayson Brocklesby led a small group of North Olympic Peninsula track and field athletes who finished in the top four at the prestigious 53rd annual Shelton Invitational.

Three area athletes placed in the top four in three events at the 40-plus team meet that featured some of the top athletes in western Washington.

Brocklesby had a banner day, the only Peninsula athlete to claim bronze as he tied for third place in high jump with a height of 6 feet, 2 inches.

He also took fourth in 400 meters with a time of 50.75 seconds.

Teammate Lopaka Yasumura was fourth in shot put with a heave of 49-11.
