St. Patrick’s Fun Run slated in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — A St. Patrick’s Day Community Fun Run on March 14 will benefit The United Way of Clallam County and the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation.

The run will be held along the Olympic Discovery Trail starting at Hollywood Beach.

A 5-kilometer run/walk or a 1-mile kids fun run are planned.

All kids participating in the 1-mile run will receive a St. Patrick’s Day medal.

The kid’s run begins at 9 a.m. and is $10. The 5K race starts at 9:30 a.m. and is $25.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers for each distance.

Prizes also will be given to the best group and individual costumes.

Register for T-Ball

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open through March 20 for the Olympic Peninsula YMCA’s T-Ball program.

The eight-week introductory league focuses on skill development, fun and building confidence. Participants will be taught teamwork, sportsmanship and fundamentals.

Teams practice Tuesday and Thursday for the program’s first two weeks, followed by practices once a week on Tuesdays with games on Thursdays.

The cost is $50 for the public, $40 for YMCA members.

Soccer club tryout

SEQUIM — Northern Peninsula Football Club — a new semipro soccer squad opening play in late April — needs to find some players.

The new Western Washington Premier League Second Division team will play a 10-game schedule from April 25 to July 11, with five home games set on Saturdays at Memorial Field in Port Townsend.

Practices will be held in Sequim a couple of times a week.

Tryouts for the team will be held at the Albert Haller Playfields, 500 N. Blake Ave., in Sequim at 1 p.m. March 8. Players will pay a $30 tryout fee (cash or check) that will go toward startup expenses for the team.
