Forks Spartans aplenty on all-league team

FORKS — Forks’ youth-filled boys soccer team was well-represented on the Class 1A Evergreen League All-League Team.

Spartans sophomore Gabriel Terrones was selected as the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

Three Forks players earned first team all-league honors: freshman forward Tony Flores, sophomore midfielder Hugo Sandoval and freshman defender Teo Ayala.

Senior Samuel Gomez and sophomore midfielder Oscar Gonzalez earned honorable mention status.

Hoquiam junior Connor Darras was voted the Offensive Player of the Year.

Elma junior A.J. Hernandez was the Defensive Player of the Year.

Sequim Junior Soccer

SEQUIM — Registration is underway for Sequim Junior Soccer’s fall soccer season at www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com.

Ages range from Little Kickers (birth years Sept. 2014-2015); U5-U6 through U13-U15.

Little Kickers’ registration fee through July 27 is $35, U5-U6 is $45 and U7 and older is $55.

After the July 27 deadline, a $10 late registration fee will be charged.

Coaches also are needed.

BMX Ladies Night

PORT ANGELES — The Lincoln Park BMX Track will host its second Ladies Night of the season Wednesday.

The track invites all moms, girls and women who want to try out BMX or just ride their back to the event, which will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Riders must wear a helmet and long sleeves and pants.

The cost is $5, with free one-day memberships for first-time riders.

Riders who attended the popular ladies night earlier this month will need to purchase a membership.

Some track bikes will be available for use.

NW Cup results

MOUNT HOOD, Ore. — Port Angeles downhill mountain bikers fared well last weekend at the Northwest Cup’s third stop of the season at Mount Hood Skibowl.

Matt Magano won the Category 2 men’s 15-19 division and Steven Lauderback was third in the Category 2 Men’s 19-20 class.

Ezra Northern made his debut in the Category 1 (junior expert) 0-18 division and finished eighth in his class.

Other area racers include Colby Groves, Benjamin Riggs, Ron Riggs, Shannon Mangano, Chris Hendry, Cash Coleman, Matthew Groves, Bryce Lauderback, James Gardner, Talon Northern and Oscar Ruiz.
