SPORTS BRIEFS: Sign-up sets for Babe Ruth, North Olympic Baseball and Softball

Junior Babe Ruth registration

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Junior Babe Ruth Baseball will be holding in-person registration from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Vern Burton Community Center at 308 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.

This sign-up is for new and returning players ages 13, 14 and 15 from Port Angeles, Sequim and surrounding areas.

Also, returning players will be contacted via mail and email with more details. New players need to bring their birth certificates.

If you are new to the area and cannot make the sign-in event, you can call Mike Mudd at 452-6079.

North Olympic Baseball and Softball

The North Olympic Baseball and Softball will hold three sign-in events on Tuesday, next Wednesday and Feb. 15.

On Tuesday and next Wednesday, events will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center. On Feb. 15, there will be a supplemental in-person registration from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the same location. Cost is $35 per player and $90 per family.

North Olympic Baseball and Softball is affiliated with Cal Ripken Baseball. The league fields teams for boys age 5-12 and girls age 5-16.

Boys’ ages will be determined by their age on April 30, 2017, while girls’ ages will be determined by their age on Dec. 31, 2016. Players new to the league must bring their birth certificate.

A skills test and softball skills clinic will be held at Lincoln Park in Port Angeles from 4:30 p.m. to dusk from March 6 to March 8.
