Roughrider pride signs sold

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Roughrider pride signs are being sold by the Port Angeles Football Booster Club for $20.

The signs can be displayed in yards, windows and cars.

The club will sell the $20 signs during the Port Angeles football team’s Green and White Game from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the high school’s lower practice field next to the gymnasium.

Free day Saturday in state parks

PORT ANGELES — To celebrate the National Park System’s 102nd birthday, the State Parks and Recreation Commission is offering free entrance to state parks Saturday.

Day-use visitors will not need a Discover Pass to visit state parks by vehicle.

The free days apply only at state parks; the Discover Pass is still required on state Department of Fish and Wildlife and Department of Natural Resource lands.

Million dollar shootout

PORT ANGELES — Qualifying rounds for a $1 million dollar shootout fundraiser for Assured Hospice of Clallam and Jefferson Counties will be held at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles and Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim.

Golfers will attempt to sink a hole-in-one on a par-3 hole at each course or get close enough to the pin to qualify for a final round event and party set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Cedars at Dungeness.

Qualifying rounds will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-2 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cedars at Dungeness and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 4-6 at both Cedars at Dungeness and Peninsula Golf Club.

The finals event and party includes free appetizers, refreshments, a desert bar and a no-host bar.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place finishers.

Sea Hawkers booster club fundraiser

SEQUIM — The Dungeness Bay Sea Hawkers, the official booster club of the Seattle Seahawks, will hold a college scholarship fundraiser and poker run at Carrie Blake Park on Saturday, Sept. 1.

The event will run from 10 a.m to 2:30 p.m. There will be a fan rally from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with raffles, prizes, giveaways and food.

Poker run locations are Carrie Blake Park, The Dam Bar, the Elwha Casino and the M&G Mariners Cafe. The three best hands will win a prize.

The entrance fee is $15. Proceeds will benefit the Dungeness Bay Sea Hawkers College Scholarship Fund.
