PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Marathon Association, a dedicated non-profit organization, announced its 2024 lineup of events this week, including a new race along the shore of Lake Crescent.
The group embarks on the 22nd annual North Olympic Discovery Marathon and the sixth annual Run the Peninsula series.
The 2024 event calendar features a diverse set of races that cater to all levels of runners and walkers. The opening event is the Elwha Bridge 5K and 10K Run on Feb. 3, followed by the Sequim Railroad Bridge 5K and 10K Run on April 27.
The highlight of the year, the North Olympic Discovery Marathon, will unfold between Blyn and Port Angeles on June 1-2 with a half-marathon, 5K and 10K, marathon relay and kids run held over two days.
Later in the year, experience the scenic beauty of the Olympic National Park and the north shore of Lake Crescent with the inaugural Spruce Railroad 5K and 10K Run on Oct. 19. The year caps off with the Jamestown 5K and 10K Glow Run on Dec. 7.
Proceeds from these events contribute to more than a dozen non-profit and youth organizations on the Olympic Peninsula. In 2023, the association donated more than $32,000 to more than 20 different organizations, with the Peninsula Trails Coalition receiving the largest contribution. This funding plays a crucial role in the growth and maintenance of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
