SEQUIM — Sophie Greenleaf served a perfect 16-for-16, including a 13-serve run with four aces in the decisive fourth set, as Sequim volleyball earned its first win, 25-22, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13, over Kingston in Olympic League action Thursday.
“Sophie getting some good serves in there, it definitely helped us break away from them in the fourth set,” coach Jennie Webber Heilman said.
“We also changed where we were focusing our hitting. We were hitting it toward their better defenders, and we had to change that up.”
Freshman Jordyn Julmist added 13 kills and a pair of aces.
Rose Gibson added nine kills, seven digs, four perfect passes, a block and an ace in a well-rounded performance.
Setter Kenzi Berglund posted 25 assists, two aces, two kills and a block.
Kassi Montero was 14-of-15 with three aces and a pair of kills.
The Wolves (1-0, 1-1) visit Olympic today in a nonleague match.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Rivals missed a pair of penalty kicks and made two mistakes defensively in the second half of Thursday’s Nisqually League loss.
“We played a really good game. I felt we were better on the ball and with the ball,” coach Rob Cantley said. “We were just a little short on the front end getting clear-cut chances to score.”
East Jefferson held a 1-0 halftime lead. “Rayna Pray got a goal when she was put on a really nice through ball from Macy Little that split the defense,” Cantley said.
“We made a couple of mistakes in the second half and we had a tough time chasing the game. And we missed a PK with three minutes to go.”
