PREP WRESTLING: Forks third at Granger meet

GRANGER — Forks’ Luke Dahlgren and Colby Demorest each won their weight divisions as the Spartans came in third out of 18 schools at the Tony Saldivar Ironman Wrestling Tournament in Granger.

Finishing ahead of Forks were 1A powers Granger and nearby Zillah. Last year, Forks came in fourth at the 1A state championships, while Granger came in fifth and Zillah sixth.

In all, the Spartans got two firsts, two seconds and a third-place finish at the meet.

Demorest won at 195 pounds with three wins and a pin in his championship match. Dahlgren won at 285 pounds with four straight wins and a 5-1 decision in his championship match.

Finishing second were Tristan Pisani at 220 pounds and Keith Thompson at 152 pounds, who lost 3-1 in sudden victory in the championship match.

Colton Duncan finished third at 138 pounds. Finishing fourth was Bryan Elena at 170 pounds.

Hayden Baker at 160 pounds, Andres Santos-Delacruz at 120 finished fifth while Ariel Morales was sixth at 132 pounds.

Forks will next wrestle Friday and Saturday at the Hammerhead Invitational in Kitsap County.
