PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Port Angeles tennis takes North Kitsap to the limit

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys tennis team nearly knocked off four-time defending Olympic League champion North Kisap, falling 4-3 to the Vikings at home Wednesday.

Two straight set singles wins by No. 1 singles player Hayden Woods and No. 3 Wyatt Hall got the Roughriders off to a great start, according to Port Angeles coach Brian Gundersen.

“Hayden and Wyatt were in control of their games from the start today,”Gundersen said.

The doubles duo of Kyler Tourbin and Brady Nickerson also won in straight sets for the Riders.

North Kitsap began their comeback from the 3-0 deficit by winning two matches in the decisive third set.

“I’m very proud of our guys for how much heart they played with,” Gundersen said.

The Riders (2-2) visited Kingston late Thursday. Port Angeles hosts Olympic on Monday.
