PREP SPORTs: Port Angeles spikers win on senior night

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles earned a senior night volleyball victory against Olympic, taking the Trojans down 26-24, 25-19, 25-14 and in an extra set 25-23.

Roughriders’ senior Camille Stensgard posted 11 assists, two aces and five digs.

Junior Lily Halberg served 15 of 16 with three aces and also had four kills and six digs.

Junior Zoe Smithson was 11 for 12 on serves and totaled 16 digs, 14 assists and four kills.

Senior middle hitter Ava Brenkman had five kills and a block, and Junior Sam Robbins also had five kills.

“Senior Emma Olsen was on fire on serve receive, passing with amazing accuracy averaging a 2.7 overall. Three is a perfect score,” said Port Angeles coach Jennifer Reynolds.

Senior defensive specialist Holly Jones added 10 digs while seniors Savannah Bray and Ellie Getchell and junior Kennedy Bruch all had two aces.

Bruch and senior Jaida Wood each added three kills.

Emi Halberg acheived 100 percent serving with five digs and four kills.

The Riders’ JV and C teams also swept their Trojan counterparts.

Port Angeles (4-4) played Olympic late Saturday and will finish the season at Klahowya on Tuesday.
