FORKS — The Forks wrestling girls, with a combined grade point average of 3.64, were named academic team state champions among 1A schools by the Washington Interscholatic Activities Association for the winter of 2016-17.
According to coach Bob Wheeler, this is the first time Forks has had an academic team state championship.
Wheeler said the girls were led by sisters Kayleen and Marissa Bailey, who each had 4.0 GPAs.
Other members of the Forks girls’ wrestling team are Rosalia Julio-Flores, Brianna Jacobson, Brynn Peterson, Kayli Hamlin and Marabella Ramirez.
