FORKS — Forks kept up its energy and enthusiasm against an overmatched opponent, holding down North Beach 60-18 in a Class 2B Pacific League girls basketball contest Wednesday in the Spartan Gym.
Sophomore Avery Dilley sparked Forks with her second consecutive double-double.
“Avery scored 17 points, had 10 rebounds and seven steals in three quarters of play,” coach David Hurn said. “She’s getting better with every game.”
Bailey Johnson also had a productive night, swiping a team-high 11 steals and scoring 11 points.
“She had a great night on defense,” Hurn said.
“For this game, we challenged ourselves to put an emphasis on man-to-man defense and creating turnovers out of it. Earlier in the year we played pretty good defense but struggled to score points off of our man defense. We created 46 turnovers last night. We didn’t shoot all that great but we rebounded and turned them over and held them to five field goals in the game. Our girls played hard and they didn’t play down [to the opponent’s ability level].”
Forks (3-0, 6-8) visits Chief Leschi tonight.

Boys Basketball Crescent 57, Clallam Bay 43
CLALLAM BAY — A solid defensive performance and a hot-shooting fourth quarter lifted the Loggers to the road win in the North Olympic League opener for both teams.
“We really were able to defend very well for most of the contest,” Crescent coach Chris Ferrier said. “Clallam Bay is a tough place to play but our guys stayed focused on the action on the floor and stuck together.”
Up 37-30 heading to the fourth, the Loggers heated up from the floor.
“Wow, we got in a rhythm,” Ferrier said. “Dom Sprague knocked down three three’s in a row , Josh Sprague pulled down some huge rebounds and Henry Bourm played awesome defense on their [Dylan] Simmons kid. Gotta shout out Levi Bourm too, he really ran out offense with aplomb and confidence.”
Dom Sprague led the way offensively with 21 points, while Henry Bourm added 14.
It was a good ballgame. Clallam Bay is a team we have a lot of respect for and we always want to give them our best effort and tonight we did

FORKS — The Spartans started slow but were able to find enough energy for a second-half blowout of the Hyaks.
“First half we were flat, just going through the motions,” coach Keith Weekes said. “North Beach did a great job staying consistent and just attacking the hoop. Everyone we play has had nothing to lose so teams just come at us full speed.
“In the second half we were able to get a boost to our energy. Controlled a little more of what their offense did instead of being so reactive. Everyone had something they struggled with but everyone also helped contribute to the team win. With the struggles no one ever gave up on what they were trying to do and we were able to create some separation by the end.”
Brody Lausche led the way with 15 points and nine rebounds. Senior DeAnthony Davila added 12 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Forks (3-0, 13-2) hosts Ilwaco on Wednesday.
