PREP SOCCER: Sequim’s Henninger signs with Franciscan

SEQUIM — Aidan Henninger has signed a letter of intent to play for NCAA Division III Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.

Henninger, homeschooled though grade ten, has since attended Peninsula College full-time through the Running Start program, with enrollment through Sequim High School.

Henninger began his soccer career early, playing for Sequim Junior Soccer at the community league level. He then advanced to play for Storm King Select Football Club for several years. Currently, he plays with Kitsap Alliance Youth Premier Football Club out of Silverdale and the Northern Peninsula Adult Premier League based in Port Townsend.

Henninger has played varsity soccer for Sequim High School for three seasons, earning a varsity letter each time, and plans to play a fourth year this spring. He plays in the defensive midfielder position.

Henninger plans to double major in psychology and theology at Franciscan University and is currently pursuing his personal trainer certification while employed at the Sequim YMCA.

The Franciscan men’s soccer team is coached by Brent Ridenour who has 22 years experience coaching at the collegiate level. Under his leadership, Franciscan placed second at the Presidents Athletic Conference Championship last fall. The school has 2,500 students.

Henninger is the son of Ray and Ann Marie Henninger of Sequim.
