PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE: Sequim shuts out North Mason; Neah Bay beats Lummi; Port Townsend and Crescent earn wins

SEQUIM — Sequim’s defense stopped North Mason on three trips inside the Wolves’ 20-yard line, Taig Wiker ran for 140 yards and a touchdown and Kyler Rollness returned a punt 60 yards for another score as the Wolves picked up a homecoming shutout of the Bulldogs 20-0 on Friday.

With the victory Sequim (2-0, 4-0) remained in the drivers’ seat in the Olympic League 2A Division playoff race and sent North Mason (1-1, 3-1) to its first loss of the season.

It was the 99th victory at Sequim for head coach Erik Wiker. He and the Wolves will visit Kingston (0-2, 1-3) next Friday for a shot at No. 100.

PORT ANGELES —The Roughriders struggled against a Class 1A powerhouse and fell in a nonleague contest at Civic Field on Friday night. Port Angeles (1-0, 1-3) hosts Olympic (1-1, 1-3) on Friday.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Redhawks (1-0, 1-3) opened Olympic/Nisqually League play with their first win of the season, the first victory under first-year head coach Patrick Gaffney.

Port Townsend hosts Vashon next Friday.
