PREP BASKETBALL: Neah Bay sweeps Crescent in Friday doubleheader

Swan scores 18 for Red Devils girls; Aguirre 21 for Neah Bay boys

NEAH BAY — Neah Bay saw four players post double-digit scoring as the Red Devils cruised past Crescent 80-45 Friday at Neah Bay.

Buddy Aguirre led the way with 21 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists for the Red Devils (2-0, 6-4). Tyler Swan led the team with nine rebounds, five steals and also added 17 points, a block and an assist.

Jodell Wimberly had a dozen points as did Jaden Halttunen as Neah Bay was never tested in the contest.

Dom Sprague had 13 points to lead the Loggers

“Coach [Dean] Williams had their guys ready to play,” Crescent coach Chris Ferrier said. “I didn’t do enough on my end to prepare my guys for Neah Bay’s speed. We didn’t handle their pressure and it got away from us. We weren’t able to execute what we are good at and the result shows that.”

Neah Bay hosts Tulalip Heritage today (Saturday) at 4 p.m.

Crescent (0-1, 9-4) visits Chief Kitsap on Tuesday.

Neah Bay 68, Crescent 18

NEAH BAY — The Red Devils forced 27 Loggers turnovers and limited the Loggers to 8 of 37 shooting (22 percent) in a North Olympic League win Friday night.

Amber Swan led Neah Bay with 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting and added four rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block.

Allie Greene was right behind Swan with 16 points, including 4 of 7 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Greene added a team-high six steals, five assists and three rebounds for the Red Devils.

Kaylen Mason had six points to lead the Loggers.

Neah Bay (1-0, 10-1) hosts Tulalip Heritage today (Saturday) at 2:30 p.m.
