PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders wrapped up their home schedule with a senior night 4-3 win over Central Kitsap, avenging a loss the night before on the road to the Cougars.
“It was a big bounceback for us. We came out pretty flat for whatever reason. It was a struggle for us on Monday,” said coach Casey Dietz.
The victory gives Port Angeles a 10-3 record and No. 2 seed in the Olympic League playoff tournament that begins Saturday. The Riders finished second in the Olympic League North, with Bainbridge, a 3A school, finishing first.
It was a great regular season after a two-year layoff that saw the Roughriders lose a lot of good players who never got to play their senior season. This year’s squad was mostly sophomores and JV players the last time the Riders played.
“They did a great job, every time out, steadily improving,” Dietz said.
The Riders got down 2-0 early, but Landon Seibel and Jacob Felton helped to lead Port Angeles back. Felton doubled to lead off the first inning and Seibel drove him in with a sacrifice fly. In the second inning, Felton drove in a run with a single, then Dru Clark scored on a groundout to make it 3-2.
In the fifth inning, it was Felton and Seibel again doing the damage. Felton got on board on an error, then came around to third base on a groundout. Seibel drove him in with a clutch single to make it 4-2.
Central Kitsap rallied with a run in the sixth and got the tying run on base in the top of the seventh, but closer Ty Bradow ended the threat with two strikeouts and a lineout to complete the win.
Seibel went five innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs to earn the victory. Bradow picked up a save.
“There’s no situation too big for Ty,” Dietz said.
Monday’s 7-2 loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Roughriders. Port Angeles managed just five singles and two walks against Central’s Joshua Flaugher and Kyle Baker.
Hall, Watkins, Price, Woods and Clark all had hits.
Port Angeles plays at 1 p.m. Saturday against the No. 3 seed from the South Division. The tournament will be played at Central Kitsap High School.

Forks 20, Napavine 10
FORKS — Forks erupted for a nine-run fifth inning to blow open a close game en route to a 20-10 2B Southwest District Tournament win over Napavine.
“We definitely put it in gear in the fifth and sixth innings,” said coach Jason Richard. “It was nice to see everyone chipping in.”
Napavine had a 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, having scored four runs in the top of the inning.
The Spartans responded by getting three straight RBI doubles from Riley Pursley, Raymond Davis and Carter Windle, scoring a couple more runs on Napavine errors and then a two-run single by Logan Olson. Olson then came around to score on a passed ball, his second run of the inning. Olson had two hits in the inning.
Forks added five more runs in the sixth, highlighted by an Olson bases-loaded double to clear the bases and end the game with the 10-run rule.
Trey Baysinger had a two-run home run early in the game. The Spartans banged out eight doubles with Davis, Pursley and Windle each hitting two doubles.
Windle and Olson each finished with five RBIs.
On the mound, Windle got the win. He gave up seven runs, but only three of them were earned. He struck out seven in five innings and walked two.
Davis finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Windle went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Olson was 3-for-5 with a run scored, Baysinger was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Pursley was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
With the win, the Spartans move on to the next round of the district tournament, hosting Kalama at Beaver at 4 p.m. today.
