Port Angeles: Local girls advance in Babe Ruth 16-and-under World Series in Louisiana

ABBEVILLE, La. — Jodie Jones allowed just two hits in 6 1/3 innings and Holly Diimmel drove in three runs as Port Angeles opened the Babe Ruth 16-and-under fastpitch World Series with a 4-2 win over Pitt County, N.C., on Saturday.

Pitt County, the Southeast regional champion, was unable to handle the speedy attack of Port Angeles, the Pacific Northwest champion.

Port Angeles stole five bases in the game on six attempts. Carla Collins, who went 2 for 3 at the plate, led the team with two steals.
