PORT ANGELES — Despite another Riley Parker home run and three runs in the first inning, the Lefties were swept by the Redmond Dudes in a three-game series.
The Dudes scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning and went on to win 6-3 on Thursday night.
Parker hit a first-inning home run, his second home run in two night, and after walks to BY Choi, Will Mulflur and Mason Persons, Weston Peninger hit a bases-loaded two-run single to score two more runs.
Redmond starter Mitsuki Shimonishi settled down after his bad first inning and the Lefties weren’t able to generate much offense for the rest of the game, mustering just four hits for the game.
Meanwhile, Lefties pitchers were solid most of the game, allowing just three runs and four hits themselves until the ninth inning. Owen Dueck, Nick Sanchez and newcomer Mikey VanZandt (Shawnee State University) went a combined eight innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out eight.
Trey Maeker got touched up in the ninth for three hits, two walks and three runs. The big blow was a two-run single by Redmond’s Shun Takahashi, who tormented the Lefties all week and had five RBIs in the final two games of the series. He also had a sac fly RBI earlier in Thursday’s game.
Parker has gone 8-for-29 with four home runs and 7 RBIs in eight nonleague games this season. He is batting .323 in West Coast League play.
