PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties concluded their nonleague schedule with a 7-3 victory over the Everett Merchants at Civic Field.
Lefties pitchers allowed just three hits as Port Angeles finished its nonleague schedule Thursday night with a 5-3 record. The Lefties play 12 more West Coast League games during the rest of the summer.
Gabe Bustamante (Central Washington) got the victory, going three innings and allowing one hit. He struck out two.
Port Angeles’ Kole Acker got the final out of the game with a bases-loaded strikeout to earn the save.
Jason Noffsinger (Shasta College) and Mike Honchow also combined to pitch three hitless and scoreless innings, allowing two walks and striking out one.
At the plate, Jared Bujanda (Cal State, Bakersfield) was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Yahir Ramirez (Texas A&M, Corpus Christi) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Brock Mayer (Point Loma Nazarene) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Jeremy Giesegh was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. In five nonleague games this season, Giesegh had a triple, two home runs, seven runs scored, seven RBIs and four stolen bases.
The Lefties (7-8 second half, 13-29 overall) traveled to Kelowna, B.C., on Friday to begin a six game road-trip in Canada. After three games in Kelowna, they will play three games in Nanaimo, B.C. After a fast start to the second half stalled by a sweep by Victoria over the Lefties, they look to get back into the playoff picture as they are just 2½ games out of first place. The Lefties have six home games left at Civic Field in August.
