PORT ANGELES LEFTIES: Lefties fall to the DubSea FishSticks

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties lost their first nonleague game of the year, falling to the DubSea FishSticks 7-2 at Civic Field.

The Lefties (16-24 overall, 3-1 nonleague) are playing a pair of nonleague games this week against teams from the Pacific International League during the West Coast League’s All-Star break. The WCL All-Star game was Wednesday night in Bellingham. The Lefties play the PIL’s Redmond Dudes at Civic Field at 6:35 p.m. today.

The Lefties and FishSticks each had seven hits, but the FishSticks got a two-run home run by Isaiah Nolan to help make the difference.

Jeremy Giesegh (Cal State, San Bernardino) had a good game with a pair of doubles, but he was left on base both times. Danny Porras (Gig Harbor) and Dom Dominguez (Cal State, San Bernardino) each had a double and a run scored.

Tyler Shulman (Harvard) had a hit and an RBI, while Sam Matosich (Centralia College) drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

The Lefties played without their top hitter, Tommy Markey (Fordham), who played in the All-Star Game. Markey’s batting average of .351 is fifth in the West Coast League.

The Lefties used six pitchers. Mason Seay (University of Puget Sound) started and took the loss, going three innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out four.

Former Port Angeles Roughrider Kaleb Mullen (Skagit Valley College) pitched two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out one.
