PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties pounded out 14 hits and scored eight runs in the third inning en route to a 15-6 shellacking of the Redmond Dudes on Thursday at Civic Field.

The Lefties smacked five doubles and 11 players in the lineup had hits in the nonleague victory. They finished the game with 28 total baserunners. The win guarantees the Lefties (4-3) a .500 record or better in their nonleague schedule as they only have one game left outside of the West Coast League.

Ethan Kodama (California, Berkeley) was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, three RBIs and a stolen base. Roberto Garza-Nunez (Embry-Riddle) was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Garza-Nunez is hitting .526 in nonleague games.

On the mound, Takuma Sato (Mount Hood CC) went four innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out two. Cade Stuart (Fresno Pacific) picked up the victory pitching the fifth, though he got roughed up for three runs on three hits.

The quartet of Alden Riggs (Wenatchee Valley), Riley Ricken (Cal State, San Bernardino), Haggerty and Travis Helm (Central Washington), went the final four innings, allowing two hits and one run. In two nonleague games over the West Coast League All-Star break this week, Helm played all nine positions on the field. He played both catcher and pitcher Thursday night, pitching a scoreless inning and striking out two.

The Lefties (5-4 second half, 11-25 overall) returned to West Coast League play Friday night after press deadline, tied with Bellingham and Wenatchee for first place in the North Division. They began an important three-game series at Bellingham and play the Bells at 6:35 p.m. today and 1:35 p.m. Sunday.
