PORT ANGELES — There wasn’t an overwhelming sense of achievement as the Port Angeles girls basketball team rolled over Puyallup 59-34 in the West Central District 4A Tournament on Wednesday.

The Roughriders (19-2) have won their first district game for three straight years now.

No, the overwhelming sensation was the emotion of the team’s last home game of the season.

“It’s sad I’m never going to play on this court again,” teary-eyed senior guard Mandy Wood said.

The overwhelming desire is to make it two wins in a row.

“The last two years we’ve lost the second district game, but this year I know we can win,” Wood added.

Port Angeles is riding a 15-game winning streak and counting.
