GREENSVILLE, N.C. — It was no day at the beach as Port Angeles shut out Stamford, Conn., 6-0 in its first game at the Babe Ruth 16-and-under World Series on Saturday.
But after exploding for five runs in the sixth inning and a strong defensive showing, the North Olympic softball team is set for a trip to the Atlantic Ocean on its day off today.
“It was a fantastic pitching performance by Audrey Chard,” Port Angeles coach Jim Bussell said. “Now we’re looking forward to going to the beach.”
The game was a pitchers’ duel until North Olympic unloaded in the sixth.
