SEQUIM— The Peninsula Trails Coalition (PTC) is seeking volunteers for the Tour de Lavender event set for Aug. 2.
The annual cycling event visits lavender farms throughout the scenic Sequim–Dungeness Valley and along the iconic Olympic Discovery Trail. Participating lavender farms include B&B Family Farm, Lit Lavender, Jardin du Soleil, Purple Haze Lavender, Victor’s Lavender, Fleurish Lavender and Olympic Bluffs Cidery and Lavender Farm.
Tour de Lavender is the only major annual fundraising event the trails coalition holds to support the Olympic Discovery Trail — the region’s acclaimed, traffic-free, multi-use path spanning the North Olympic Peninsula.
The Olympic Discovery Trail is a 135‑mile corridor connecting communities and showcasing the Peninsula’s beauty. Each Tour de Lavender entry fee supports long-term trail development and maintenance. Funds raised help complete missing trail segments and keep the route accessible and safe.
Volunteers sought
Volunteers are needed to staff refreshment stations at eight lavender farms, deliver food and water to farms the day before, and pick up supplies at farms afterward. In addition, volunteers are needed to help with activities at the start/finish area at the Boys & Girls Club in Sequim. Duties at the Boys & Girls Club include help with registration, refreshments and cleanup.
Volunteers will receive a special Tour de Lavender T-shirt with custom artwork by local artist Todd Fisher, plus pizza and beverages at the midday celebration.

Course details
If you prefer to support the trail by biking instead, the bike event offers two distances. The short course is a relaxed 35-mile loop visiting six lavender farms, each with water and snacks for riders. This is a beginner-friendly route.
There also is a long route which is a metric century distance (62 miles) visiting seven lavender farms, Sequim Bay State Park and about 30 miles of the Olympic Discovery Trail. It is a moderately challenging ride with more than 2,000 feet of climbing.
Roads will be open to vehicle traffic during the event, so riders will ride at their own risk and will be expected to follow the normal rules of the road. E-bikes are welcome and each rider will receive event swag and pizza after the event. The Sequim Valley Lions Club will host a beer garden after the event as well, with proceeds supporting the trail.
