PORT ANGELES — These Dudes did not abide in Port Angeles.
The Port Angeles Lefties beat the Redmond Dudes 7-2 on Sunday to take the series two games to one, and to finish their nonleague schedule for the year. The Lefties also won Saturday night, 11-1.
The Lefties did much of their damage with a five-run sixth inning. Carson Crawford belted a home run and Trevor Tishenkel had a bases-loaded, two-run double. Nathan Chong and Bryce Matthews also hit doubles. Javy Espinosa went 3-for-5 at the plate.
Former Roughrider Ethan Flodstrom, now playing for Tacoma Community College, got in a lot of action during the weekend for the Lefties after sitting out the first half of the season recovering from a broken foot.
Flodstrom was hit by a pitch and came in to score a run during the big sixth inning on Tishenkel’s double. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and walked.
On the mound, Luke Jewett started, going five innings and giving up no runs on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Christian Beccerra pitched a scoreless inning and Joseph Sinclar pitched two scoreless innings with a hit, no walks and two strikeouts.
Lefties’ play-by-play announcer Tellier Lundquist also pitched an inning, striking out one.
Saturday night’s game
PORT ANGELES — Flodstrom got in his first action for the Lefties Saturday night, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double that broke open a close game in an 11-1 win over Redmond.
Flodstrom ended up scoring two two runs.
The game was tied 0-0 in the bottom of the fourth as Lefties’ pitcher Justin Miller was locked in a pitchers’ duel with the Dudes’ Jackson Dinkel.
Then the Lefties erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth. Flodstrom had an RBI double and a run scored to begin the big inning. Kataoka Takuto had a two-run triple in the inning, Nick Oakley and Coleman Schmidt each had RBI singles, Matthews hit a two-run double and Jack Holman an RBI triple to round out the scoring.
Steven Brooks won the game with a scoreless fifth inning. Reliever Crawford pitched a scoreless sixth.
Kai Saterstrom finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Takuto, Oakley and Schmidt all had two hits.
The Lefties have today off, then travel to Ridgefield to begin the second half of West Coast League play Tuesday.
The Yakima Valley Pippins won the North Division’s first half, while defending champions Corvallis, Ore., won the South Division. The Lefties finished the first half of the WCL season 7-14. The Lefties return to Civic Field on Friday against Yakima Valley.
