LEFTIES: Port Angeles shackled by Pickles pitching again

Lefties struggle against Portland pitching again

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Lefties again had trouble generating offense against Portland’s pitching, mustering six hits in a 5-1 road loss Wednesday night.

Port Angeles got decent pitching, as a quartet of hurlers allowed 10 hits and four earned runs. But the Lefties hitters were kept off the scoreboard until the eighth inning.

Coleman Schmidt went 2-for-3 for the Lefties with a double and a run scored. Carson Crawford had a hit and an RBI, while Trevor Tishenkel, Nathan Chong and Javy Espinoza all had singles.

On the mound, Christian Becerra started and took the loss. He went five innings, allowed eight hits and four earned runs. He walked one and struck out three.

Zach Ediger, Ryan Wike and Justin Sinclair combined for three innings of relief, allowing two hits and an unearned run. They walked three and struck out three.

The Lefties (10-25, 3-8 second half) wrapped up their Portland series Thursday night after press deadline. They begin a three-game series in Longview versus the Cowlitz Black Bears at 6:35 p.m. today.
