LEFTIES: Nine walks, four errors too much for Lefties

PORT ANGELES — The Lefties stayed close until the sixth inning, but six late runs for the GreyWolves gave Gresham a 9-3 win at Civic Field.

The score was 3-1 after five innings. Lefties pitchers gave up just eight hits to the GreyWolves in Wednesday’s game, but they were undone by nine walks and four errors.

Seth Freed had two hits and two RBIs for the Lefties, while Ian Nowak had two hits, including a double. Benny Kaleiwahea had two hits and a double with a run scored. Sean Roby had a hit and an RBI to give him 25 RBIs for the season, good for fourth in the West Coast League.

Starter Kieran Shaw gave up just one earned run in five innings, but was saddled with the loss due to unearned runs. He struck out seven and walked three.

The Lefties (11-20, 1-3 second half), finished their series with Gresham Thursday night after press deadline. They welcome Bellingham, one of the top teams in the WCL, to Civic Field at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
