Junior Firecracker: Wilder Junior has won seven straight after 2-0 start

SEQUIM — Wilder Junior’s win streak is up to seven games after beating the WBS White Colts 4-2 on Wednesday night and the Kitsap Ospreys 9-0 Thursday morning in the Dick Brown Memorial Firecracker junior division tournament being held at Sequim High School.

Wilder Junior’s Carston Seibel and Carson Waddell combined for a five-inning, two-hitter against the Ospreys. Seibel struck out nine in four innings, while Waddell struck out two.

At the plate, Ian Smithson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Zach DeBray was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Easton Fisher had a hit and an RBI.

In the victory over the WBS Colts White, Wilder Junior had just three hits, but one was a triple by Hunter Tennell and the other an RBI double by DeBray.

A trio of Wilder Junior pitchers allowed just four hits themselves. Tennell went four innings, allowed four hits and an earned run while striking out five. Owen Leitz and Ethan Swenson allowed no hits in three innings, striking out three combined.

Wilder Junior next plays at 8 a.m. today at Sequim High School against the Broncos.

SEQUIM — Wilder A won its second game of the year, pounding out 11 hits in a 13-8 victory over the WBS Gray team in its opener of the Dick Brown Memorial Firecracker junior division game.

Easton Schlichting had a huge game with a two-run single and a two-run double and six RBIs total. Asher Irvine was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while Parker Pavlak was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored.

On the mound, Pavlak went three innings, allowing just two hits. He struck out four.

Wilder A played a game later Thursday against the Whatcom Post No. 7 AA team after press deadline. The A squad plays again at Sequim High School at 3:30 p.m. Friday against Lakeside Recovery.
