GOLF: Sunland, Cedars golf club results

SEQUIM — Bob and Sandra Gunn won the 2022 Couples Golf Championship this past weekend at Sunland Golf Club.

The Gunns took first with a +4, taking a purse of $95. Mike Mullikin and Cynthia Carpine came in second at +7, Judy Flanders and Michael Oliver were third at +10, Irene and Mike Schmidt fourth at +11, Dan and Geri O’Claray fifth at +15 and Jack and Janet Real sixth at +21.

The Gunns also won the best net at -11. Flancers and Oliver were second net (-7), the O’Clarays third (-4), the Reals and Schmidts tied for fourth (-1) and Mullikin and Carpine sixth (even). Flanders and Oliver took a net purse of $95 while the O’Clarays won a $50 purse.

In Sunland Women’s Golf Association results, in a Nassau-scored low player vs. Flight Nassau tournament, Susan Elvert won the first flight with a net 34-34-68, Bobbie Piety took second (37-38-75) and Irene Schmidt third (39-36-75).

In the second flight, Linda Fortney took first (34-38-72), Dianne Bresnahan (39-41-80), Nan Godfrey (37-43-80) and Toni Harms (42-38-80) second.

In the third flight, Eileen Larsen won (35-36-71), Kathy Benedict took second (42-33-75) and Linda Collet third (41-36-77).

Cedars At Dungeness Women’s Golf news

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness played a “Count Tee to Green minus Handicap” tournament, playing the front nine twice.

Taking first place was Lori Wyngaert with a 33 ($13.50 purse), second was Cathy Grant with a 34 ($8.10) and third was Judy Reno with a 37 ($5.40).

Closest to the pins were Anne Elwell on No. 4, at 5 feet, 2 inches and Kathy Langston on No. 8 at 13-1.
